SALC is working with Somerset Council Public Health, and other partners, to help support the County’s City, Town and Parish Councils to actively engage in, and deliver, community health & wellbeing projects.
Health & Wellbeing is a broad subject area with many possible activity proposals. The eleven headings are an indication of the kind of factors that can have an impact on people’s physical and mental health as well as a sense of wellbeing and belonging.
You know your community best so your councils are best placed to deliver projects that address any inequality related to these factors.
The Community Health & Wellbeing Programme is now closed to new applications.
The programme has awarded 60 Grants from £600 to £35,000 and totalling over £565,000.
We have awarded 48* Grants to individual Councils and 8* Grants to Local Community Networks, representing 169 seperate parishes.
(*4 Seed/ Scoping Grants were awarded followed by Project Grants)
The open grant programme has now closed to applications. However, the Community Health & Wellbeing Team are still here to support City, Town and Parish Councils to develop and deliver any projects related to health and wellbeing.
The team have expertise in a number of fields, including:
There is a small amount of funding available to help support your projects. This will be available ideally for parishes with a population of under 1000 who haven’t previously received a grant.
Grants will be up to a maximum of £1000.
Prioritise: What are your residents’ needs? What would be a great addition to local services or provisions? If you don’t know, is it time to carry out a Community Plan?
Collaborate: Actively work with your local groups and charities to develop innovative projects. Connect with other Councils or your Local Community Network (LCN) to develop broader projects.
Plan for the Future: Consider long-term sustainability – how will the project or service continue into future years? How much can your council afford towards its continuation?
