Parish Clerk

The role is 16 hours per week with a hybrid working arrangement consisting of working in the Parish Office, working from home, and attending an average of two Wednesday evening meetings per month at the Village Hall. Hours and days of work are to some extent negotiable to accommodate the needs of the applicant, but availability on the second and last Wednesday evenings each month for meetings is a must.

There is a salary range of NALC spinal column points SCP 9 – 17 (£14.13 – £16.08 per hour) depending on experience, plus a pension scheme.

You will need a keen interest in understanding local issues and will be responsible for all aspects of finance and administration of the Parish Council, as well as providing advice and implementing decisions for the Parish Council. Computer literacy with knowledge of Word and Excel is required, as well as strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently. The Council also has Scribe for accounting, for which a wide range of training is available if you are unfamiliar. Training and subscriptions to relevant bodies will be paid by the Council.

Relevant qualifications such as CiLCA or similar are desirable but not a requirement. If not qualified, ideally you would be prepared to study for and attain the CiLCA qualification in the future, funded by the Council. There is the potential to split off the Responsible Finance Officer part of the job in the first instance
