Street Parish Council’s Discover Your Community Events have been instrumental in offering the local community the opportunity to be introduced to the wonderful facilities in the village helping to improve residents’ health & wellbeing.
Street Parish Council were delighted to host two Discover Your Community events at the Crispin Hall during the spring and autumn of 2023. The council intend to keep running with the bi-annual events offering specific themes and targeting community groups, particularly in support of those who may have barriers to health and accessibility issues affecting their abilities to explore local options.
The events offer a platform to raise awareness and share good practice. Residents and community groups alike receive valuable insights from members of the public looking to invest in themselves by finding a new hobby, giving back by volunteering, or even looking to launch a grassroots initiative from scratch themselves!
Across both events in 2023, held at Crispin Hall, there was incredible feedback as to how beneficial the sessions had been. Over 30 organisations and crowds of people turned out. The local Samba band played at the Library Gardens creating a real carnival atmosphere and the appearance of the Fire Engine each time brought great enjoyment to young and old alike.
It was a proud moment for Street Parish Council to see the community of Street coming together in such a positive way to support each other. It was great to see so many organisations unite, some of which were relatively new set-ups. It is hoped continuing the events will offer inspiration to get out and spread the word about their services and opportunities in the community.
