Mohammed Saddiq, HM Lord-Lieutenant of Somerset, has written to every town and parish council across Somerset, Bath and North East Somerset and North Somerset. He is asking for help finding the people who deserve recognition through the UK Honours system.

Honours may go to anyone who goes “above and beyond” in their communities: the long-serving village hall volunteer, the carer who supports neighbours without asking for thanks, the sports coach, the choir leader, the person who organised help when the floods came. As the Lord-Lieutenant puts it, anyone can nominate and anyone can be nominated.

Councils are often best placed to know who is quietly making a difference locally. Please consider whether there is someone in your council or wider community whose contribution deserves recognition, and share this message with your members, staff and volunteers.
