Old Cleeve Parish Council is seeking a part-time Parish Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer.
The Council serves a population of approximately 1,500, covering an area stretching from Blue Anchor on the coast to Roadwater in the Exmoor National Park and includes the villages of Old Cleeve and Washford, together with the hamlets of Bilbrook, Golsoncott, Leighland Chapel, and Chapel Cleeve. The Parish is divided into three wards, represented by 15 councillors.
The Council meets monthly, on the third Monday of each month at 7:00pm, rotating between Old Cleeve, Washford, and Roadwater with additional committee meetings as needed. In addition, the Council is the sole trustee of two local charities, which meet at least annually, with support provided by the Clerk.
This is a home-based role, requiring approximately 73 hours per month. The Council has a number of exciting projects planned and is looking for someone who can:
· Prepare clear, timely reports and briefings.
· Advise councillors on proposals and feasibility.
· Identify and manage grant funding, including applications and reporting to funders.
· Support Council decision-making, administer meetings, and oversee the Council’s finances in line with statutory requirements.
Training and a handover will be provided. Salary is in accordance with the NALC pay scale. LGPS pension and a home working allowance are offered. Start date is negotiable.
