We aim to be an efficient forward-looking Parish Council identifying our community’s needs and delivering on their behalf: –

The role of Clerk to the Parish Council & Responsible Finance Officer is to: –

•           Receive and respond to Council correspondence

•           Administer the day-to-day financial transactions of the Parish Council using the industry standard web-based Scribe Accounts solution and Internet Banking

·        Prepare meeting agendas and post-meeting minutes

·        Advise elected Councillors to ensure that our decisions and actions are legal & compliant.

·        Lead the preparation of yearly financial reporting & budget setting

·        Additional responsibilities include: –

o   Administering Shapwick’s Village Green and Play Area

o   Working with the Shapwick Allotment Society

o   Keeping the Shapwick Community informed by: –

§  Updating and maintaining the Parish Council website

§  Posting to Facebook

·        The ideal candidate would have some experience/qualifications in general finance and administration. An understanding of local authority organisation and management, although not essential, would be an advantage.

·        A full set of professional, on-line, training courses will be provided according to each candidate’s requirements.

·        The council would consider supporting training to CilCA standard.

·        The role is home based with attendance at meetings in Shapwick every 2 months

·        This is a salaried part time role of 4 hours per week, pay scale subject to qualifications and experience, with reference to the latest NALC Local Government Services Pay Agreement.
